Finding Your Air Dry
By Crown Affair
For those who have spent years blow drying your hair, the idea of letting your hair air dry may seem undesirable and maybe even unattainable. After all, you’ve most likely grown accustomed to the time it takes to blow dry, and how that factors into your day. You may also have a better sense of how blow drying affects your hair’s volume and texture post-wash. And while blow drying may give you more predictable results, it’s one of the most harmful things you can do to your hair, causing damage and breakage over time.
That’s why we encourage you to explore air drying – it’s simply the healthiest option. But more than that, you can create a personalized ritual around letting your hair naturally dry. When you’re first getting started, we find it helpful to select the specific day and time of the week where you have enough room to let your hair fully dry. Create a mindful practice as you take note of how your hair is responding and also the environment in which you live. Which ingredients are used in your shampoo and conditioner? Do you need to add in a few extra drops of oil to enhance? Do you live in a humid or dry climate?
Remember to be patient with yourself, your hair, and to the process of finding your air dry. You deserve to feel your best as much as possible. So know that you don’t have to go “all in” on air drying. Create your own routine and set of rules. Try mixing in an air dry day when it works for you, even if it's just once a week. You can strike that perfect balance for you.
