Together in Community

Together in Community

By Crown Affair

With the holidays upon us, we’re spending more time with those special people in our lives. The ones we hold near and dear; our cherished colleagues; our local neighbors; our community. By nature, humans aren’t built to be alone all the time. Connecting with others, in big and small ways, is paramount to our overall emotional and mental well-being. We may even feel a rush of excitement when we’re coming together with the people we love. That’s why we’re taking time to reflect on the importance of community.

By cultivating and fostering a community, we become a part of something that is outside and greater than ourselves. We feel a sense of belonging, accountability, and responsibility to those we surround ourselves with. You can find support when you’re in a time of need or seeking advice from someone you can trust. Within your community you can find expanders, people who motivate and encourage you to be the best version of yourself. Come together to share ideas, new concepts, and diverse perspectives so you can build a more well-rounded view on the world. Community can be a sacred place where you feel welcome, heard, and understood.

Your community can be anyone that supports and uplifts you. To give thanks and credence to your community, try these simple ideas:  Call a loved one that you haven’t spoken to in a while. Offer to water your neighbors plants or pick up their mail while they are out of town for the holidays. Write a handwritten letter and send it to someone who needs a little extra love right now. Or spend a day volunteering with a local charity.
